NIGEL CHARLES REDMAN (Ollie)

Lock. 6’4” 17st 2lb Born 16/8/1964 in Cardiff.

Rugby Pedigree:- Weston R.F.C. (at age 15), England Colts, England Under 23 (Captain), and South West Division. In 1984 he was selected as England lock against Australia when he was 20 years old. He went on to win 20 England caps and was in England’s World Cup squads in 1987 and 1991.

Nigel played on the British Lions Tour 1997 and proudly captained the Lions midweek side against Northern Free State winning 52-30.

Nigel Redman’s first outing was something of a baptism of fire against Welsh international Allan Martin. As always – ‘Ollie’ performed with distinction. His final Bath appearance was 7/3/1999 v Newcastle after 349 games, 34 tries and 146 points.

Nigel is a senior R.F.U. National Academy Coach. Also, he is well known to TV viewers as an ‘eagle-eyed’ match analysis expert and glad to help out with Bath Minis on Sunday mornings.

Club Song

We are Combe Down Rugby Players
and there's no one that we fear
in our game we play and which we love so well
and when it is the evening we drink a lot of beer
and our brewers and the landlords wish us well

We are poor little lambs who have lost our way
baa baa baa
we are poor little black sheep who have gone astray
baa baa  baa

We are the men of Combe Down RFC
damned from here to eternity
lord have mercy on such as we
baa baa baa

O yes we are Combe Down rugby players
black and amber is our flag
and we wear it proudly even if we lose
they can boo us in the sevens
they can boo us what care we
after rugby what we love best is booze

We are poor little lambs who have lost our sheep
baa baa baa
we are poor little black sheep who have gone astray
baa baa  baa
